Physics Department Enters Collaborative Agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific

The Department of Physics at Gordon College is excited to announce that it has entered into a collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, to work together on the research and development of advanced spectroscopic techniques for use in the field. Several Gordon College physics majors completed successful internships at Thermo Fisher.

Mike Dugas, Senior Director of Research and Development, Field and Safety Instruments, at Thermo Fisher commented, “We have been impressed with the quality of the interns we get from Gordon. This collaboration gives us access to these well-trained students, while also giving the students the opportunity to develop their skills and hands-on experience working with us on a range of projects.”

Physics Department Chair David Lee said, “We are very excited about the opportunity this brings to our students—a chance to work with researchers at a top instrumentation company and a chance to apply their physics and technical training to real product development. We are grateful that Thermo Fisher has benefited from our past interns and look forward to deepening our collaboration with them.”
