Gordon FCA to Welcome Former NFL Player
On Wednesday, March 23, Gordon’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) group will welcome former NFL player William Green to campus to share about his life and faith journey. The event will be held in MacDonald Hall in the Ken Olsen Science Center at 8 p.m. It is free of charge and open to the community.
“We are excited to have William here at Gordon to tell his story about how God changed his life,” said Jenna Olson ’18, forward on the Women’s Basketball team. “It will be a great event for anyone and everyone to hear an inspiring story of God’s work in someone’s life.”
Green attended Boston College where he excelled on the field, compiling over 2,700 rushing yards en route to two All-Big East First Team selections, a Big East Offensive Player of the Year nod, and First Team All-American honors. After being drafted in the first round in 2002, he spent four years in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns before stepping away from the game to deal with personal issues. After committing his life to the Lord, Green now devotes his time to traveling the country as a motivational speaker.
Said Sue Kelly, Women’s Volleyball head coach and FCA staff leader at Gordon, “When I was with FCA full-time I frequently traveled with professional athletes to facilitate them speaking to assemblies, huddle meetings and camps. It is always amazing to see how God reaches an individual in just the way they need it the most. Usually there is at least one person in the room who really responds to their story. The challenge at a Christian college where students hear great speakers often is just getting them to be open to what God is sharing through this particular speaker.”
Gordon’s FCA huddle meets every Wednesday at 9 p.m. in the Bennett Athletic Center classroom and is open to all. If you are interested in sharing your faith with other athletes and getting involved, learn more about FCA >>
